To understand my art process, you might want to know a little bit of my origins as an artist. I have always enjoyed the creative process but my art became a way to make extra money for me to help raise my children. Being a single parent, there never seemed to be enough money for Christmas. I started painting windows so that I could make that extra money and actually built quite a customer list.
As time passed and I did not need to do this any more, I started to play with my art, at first trying to do what would sell. It sold but the process did not always make me happy because I was doing what others thought that I should do and not what made me happy. Now, I create in a way that makes me happy, not anyone else. You either like my artwork enough to purchase it, or you don't.
My family sometimes look at my art with bewildered expressions. I am sure that some of them, like some of the general public my art seems strange. But experimenting is what gives me the most satisfaction so experimenting I will do.
I use a lot of recycled materials in my art. I take great delight when someone donates a mirror, a piece of glass or wood for me to use or when I can buy a whole lot of discarded kitchen cabinet doors for which to use as bases for my artwork. When someone gives me a tempered glass showered door to break, it makes me happy to stomp on it or crack it in different ways to get different sizes and shapes.
Above, you will see my coffee table. You must see it to see why I like it. While I like the fact that it contains red flecks of foil to match my room, it also has a purple tinge to it, something that can't be seen in any photograph. You will also see here a
